Comcast invites anyone wanting to make a difference in their community to volunteer at the 2011 Comcast Cares Day held on Saturday, April 30 from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteer projects will be held at over 20 locations throughout Metro Atlanta. In celebration of the 10th anniversary of Comcast Cares Day, we have set a goal of securing 2,500 volunteers from Comcast and the communities we serve. Projects located in the City of Atlanta:
-150 volunteers ages 10+ are invited to Piedmont Park. Tasks will include painting, mulching and pine strawing, understory planting assistance and invasive plant removal. This is a family friendly event that will include a craft area for small children.
-100 volunteers are invited to the Bulter Street YMCA. Outdoor tasks will include beautifying the exterior of the building and improving parking lots. Inside tasks will include repainting and repairing walls, removing old carpet and painting floors. All ages are welcome to participate.
-50 volunteers are invited to the Carver High School Community Garden. Tasks will include dirt excavation and removal, planting, mulching and social media marketing. This is a great family project and all ages are welcome.
-50 volunteers are invited to the East Lake Foundation’s Community Learning Garden. Tasks will include mulching, planting, clearing kudzu, painting signs and conducting Kudzu crafts with neighborhood children. This is a family friendly event open to all ages.
-60 Volunteers are invited to partner with Ron Clark Academy at the Gateway 24-7 Homeless Service Center. Tasks will include preparing bagged lunches, lawn care, light housekeeping and socializing with families. All ages are welcome to participate.
