Atlanta movie premiere benefits teen program
The Atlanta premiere of "Deadline," starring former Grady High student Eric Roberts and Steve Talley, is Wednesday night at Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 16. Hosted by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the premiere will benefit VOX Teen Communications.
VOX is the only citywide teen created media in the Southeastern United States. Teens develop skills for a lifetime and gain a sense of connection and community by publishing original writing and artwork in the VOX newspaper and website, facilitating workshops for peers,
and leading outreach activities.
The brother of a certain world famous actress sister and an Academy Award nominee, Roberts spoke recently with the AJC about the film, his career and some certain Midtown mischief from back in the day.
VOX board member and Pulitzer Prize winner Hank Klibanoff said in a release that he gave the movie five stars. "One for the inspiring story it tells about a resolute newspaper investigation into an unsolved civil rights murder; another for the discovery
of racial reconciliation inside the heart of human conflict.
"A third for the link between the screenwriter’s grandfather, Mark Ethridge, and Ralph McGill, the legendary Atlanta Constitution editor he launched to prominence. Another
for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s sponsorship commitment to VOX Teen Communications; and a final star for those who honor the other four by buying tickets for the benefit premiere! This is a win-win-win-win-win win!"
A 5 p.m. VIP reception at Strip Steaks & Sushi is included in the higher sponsor-level contributions. The red carpet arrivals begin at 6 p.m with the benefit movie premiere beginning at 7 p.m.
Festivities also will include a Q&A session following the premiere with cast members, the reporter who lived and wrote the story, Mark Ethridge, and director Curt Hahn.
Tickets start at $25, with an option to make larger sponsor-level contributions or purchase tickets for VOX students. To learn more, visit http://www.deadlinefilm.com/atlanta.
