Pedestrians Robbed at Gunpoint in Ansley Park

Incident happened Friday night.

Atlanta police are looking for three men they say robbed at gunpoint a group of pedestrians Friday night in Ansley Park.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. at Westminster Drive and Park Lane, according to police spokesman Sgt. Curtis Davenport.

According to an email that circulated the neighborhood, a man was walking with his girlfriend and her two relatives when two men approached them. One of the men pointed a handgun at the group and demanded all their belongings. Cell phones, purses and wallets were among the items taken, the email said.

"After the suspects took their items, they fled the scene in a vehicle," Davenport said. The third suspect was the driver of the car, he said.

"Fortunately, no one was physically harmed, just severely distraught," the email to the Ansley Park neighborhood said.

That same evening, police recovered a stolen vehicle at Central Avenue and Glenn Street "just a few moments after the robbery occurred on Westminster Drive," Davenport said. Some of the items stolen from the group in Ansley Park were found inside the vehicle -- described by police as a brown-colored Dodge Stratus.

No arrests have been made in the case.

Police describe the three suspects as black men. The man who pointed the handgun at the pedestrians is 17 to 18 years old with a slim build, police said. He was last seen wearing a dark coat, light-colored shirt and a red baseball cap.

Another suspect is about 40 years old and 6-feet tall. He was last seen wearing "baggy" clothing, police said.

Police gave no additional description of the third suspect, the driver of the get-away car.
