Police seek help locating repeat Peachtree St. armed robber
Dubbed the "Buckhead Bandit," the man has struck at least 10 times at businesses along Peachtree beginning with a New Year’s Day robbery at a Midtown CVS.
Atlanta police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who has committed a string of armed business robberies along Peachtree Street this month.
Beginning with a New Year’s Day robbery at a Midtown CVS Pharmacy, the man has struck at least 10 times, mostly targeting establishments in Buckhead.
Dubbed the “Buckhead Bandit,” the black male, who stands approximately 5-foot-7, calmly strolls into restaurants and stores, points a handgun at employees, and casually requests they stuff cash into a bag.
The Midtown crime occurred at the CVS located at 842 Peachtree Street shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 1. According to the police report, the man approached the checkout counter and pointed a back and silver handgun at the female employee and said, “Come on, don’t you know this is a robbery? Give me all that.”
He made off with $227 and the crimes, including two in Brookhaven, generally result in the armed robber making off with between $200-$300.
Police investigators have released business surveillance videos of the suspect, posted on YouTube, that they hope will help identify the suspect.
Anyone with information on these robberies is asked to contact Atlanta Police Commercial Robbery Investigators at 404-546-4255 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
The Midtown CVS that was robbed was also hit by thieves in February 2012 when they threw a brick through the front glass door when the store was closed and made off with hair weaves and cigarettes.
