Celebrate Rev. Joseph Lowery's 90th Birthday in Midtown

Event will be held in one week at Symphony Hall.

Join in the 90th birthday celebration of civil rights icon Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.

A star-studded performance is set for Sunday, Oct. 9 at Atlanta Symphony Hall in Midtown. CNN's Soledad O'Brien will host the event that features apperances from Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Holiday, Peabo Bryson, Cicely Tyson and others.

Called "His Words—Our Gift," the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and special guests will celebrate Lowery's life-long work for equality with music and theatre.

Lowery formed and led the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is considered the Dean of the Civil Rights Movement. He delivered the benediction at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama and was awarded The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
