The air ventilation machines (at least I think thats what they are) on the Juniper side of the 12th and Peachtree development are extremely noisy...maybe this ordinance update can address issues like these.

The garbage trucks picking up dumpsters at 6am need to be outlawed

The biggest noise issue is the firetrucks and ambulances who I truly believe blare their horns while lost zooming up and down peachtree. Noise dampeners would be just an idea.

I live on Peachtree and 8th. I have no issues with garbage trucks, ambulances and other people doing their jobs. What I do have a problem with is the constant late night cruising and blasting of tasteless southern rap music through all hours of the night. Clean up the streets and enforce laws on the books. I love Midtown, but hate that it becomes a playground on the weekends for everyone and their brother from all over metro Atlanta looking to get drunk, cat call and be seen.

Atlanta is not nearly as noisy as:

Manhattan
SF
Chicago
Philadelphia

Though to me it is noisier than Boston, DC, and Seattle. Garbage trucks, honking, sirens and occasional banter come with the territory of living in a city, especially one with canyons of residential highrises amplifying noise as it travels up. To me motorcycles are the worst, but how do you ban those? I do agree that Altanta does have a proportionately larger share of blaring rap music and cat calling than pretty much any other city I have been in, and it does get old (especially considering the perps do not live in the city), but what do you do about that without appearing racist or bigoted?

Leafblowers are the worst. Are there not quieter ones?

This is so stupid. Moving into the city and complaining about noise. What's next? The city council closing the airport because of the noise? I live near Interstate 85 and I hear noise from it all the time, should the city council close all the interstate highways because of this? Cancel all the future conventions, professional games, entertainment, etc that is coming to Atlanta in the future because the people leaving those venues will be making noise. As far as the loud music, I hear more loud noise from those bars on Cresent Ave, events at Piedmont Park, the bars on 10th & Piedmont, etc but you never hear "those" people complaining about those demographic of people. Racist people complain about noise from certain establishments/etc in Midtown but when their race does the same nobody saying anything negative.

Wait - before the council votes on this, will there be an opportunity to air your opinion to the city council?

It's very simple - when you grow into a city that provides around the clock amenities (which Atlanta does not do, but it would be nice if it did), you have around the clock noise. Cities are where people live to gain access to around the clock amenities and opportunities, and they deal with the noise that comes along with that. Sorry, but you don't get to tell the people who come to a city to make something happen with their life that they need to take a break because you want some rest.

Well, the Escorpion restaurant has police at their establish every weekend telling them to turn off the DJ/music. Anything will help

They should shutdown the clubs on crescent simply for the crowd it attracts. On any given Friday, I see security and luxe and opera frisking their hood rat patrons. They don't do that at cafe Intermezzo. Crescent looks like the west end on the weekends. They need to replace those places with high end establishments to attract a better clientele.

The amplified music and thumping base from The Park Tavern distresses me most nights.
