Damn you Michael Zimmerman for ruining the narrative that all crime in Midtown is committed by blacks! I know many of our most prolific commenters will be upset.

Apparently, the suspect and victim knew each other. In regards to race of suspects, I guess we can surmise that at least black guys don't stab their friends. The only stab strangers after taking their wallets and cell phones. I pointed this out before. Let's see if this post get deleted. LOL.

Why did they feel to mention the victim is gay? I take offence at the constant brow beating that gay people are giving us these days regarding their sexual preference. I'm thinking of start a straight parade and wearing straight t-shirts and starting straight clubs. In other words I really don't care who your doing the nasty with so gay people you can start acting regular now; please.

First, for all you ignorant race baiters out there (Vianen, Jim), very rarely, if ever, are racist comments posted on Patch. What you ignorantly regard as racism is the simple reporting of the identifying racial characteristics of the perpetrator. I wonder why the reporting of their gender is not equated to sexism? Or their age to ageism? Typically the ones who are most eager to cry "racism" are the racists.

Second, the difference between this crime and the ones nearly always committed by young black males is that in this case it was a fight between two men who apparently knew one another. The predatory violent crimes in Midtown still remain almost exclusively the domain of young black men.

Third, why is the sexual orientation of the victim being reported? I can't recall the last time a straight victim's orientation was noted. Was the victim targeted for being gay? If so, then of course it is relevant. If not, I'm not sure why his sexual proclivity should be publicized.

Patrick, rather than cowardly hiding behind the other readers of Patch, please provide even one example of my "particularly nasty racial edge". I'll bet you can't.

I'm gonna try this one more time for the slower folks here, like Patrick. When providing a physical description of a crime suspect, it is not ageist to state the perp was young. It is not sexist to state that the perp was male. It is not heightist, weightist, hair colorist, eye colorist, to, respectively, describe the height, weight, hair color, or eye color of the perp. But, curiously, when one particular physical characteristic is included in the description, race, the person who included that characteristic is accused of subscribing to the belief in one race's superiority over another. Seems like some folks are a bit hung up on that one physical descriptor, perhaps suggesting a bit of racism on their part?

Not racist? This is a perfect example of racism and double standard. Anytime we have a raving lunatic in Midtown with a knife stabbing another person in VERY public way, he is indeed a VERY VIOLENT and UNPREDICTABLE THREAT. He is a threat not only to his intended victim whether acquaintance or non-acquaintance, but to all innocent bystanders and people in the immediate vicinity. It's funny how the racist and apologist seem to find a difference in the nature or severity of crimes when it comes to the skin color or the participants. This was an extremely dangerous and terrifying situation. If these were two individuals were black, they would be undoubtedly labeled worthless trash or criminals by many people on this site. There would be calls for immediate death by the local town Mob... Excuse me, the local Midtown Patch Mob.

Therefore, no distinction should be made based upon the nature of the crime. This person was charged with standard class one felonies…Why? Because, this crime occurred in PUBLIC, thereby making this crime not only a crime against his victim but also a crime against everyone in midtown. This guy is no better than the guy who commits a random street robbery and the fact that unintellectual people like you attempt to differentiate the crimes based upon the “nature” is the very thing that makes you ignorant racists. You are too foolish to recognize that when the people who are involved in crimes stories such as this one are black, no distinction in the “nature of the crime” is ever made or afforded to them by racist lowlifes such as yourself and so many others on this site. If you and your cohorts were so concerned about crime in Midtown, then no initial distinction in the nature of the crimes would have ever been offered on your part.

Aiden, last time you moron: 1) I, nor anyone else here defended the crime. 2) I abhor all crime in my neighborhood. 3) The nature of this crime IS NOT different than other crime BECAUSE of race, 4) the nature of this crime IS different than predator-on-innocent bystander prey, as it was a fight between two individuals who either knew each other or were otherwise engaged in some other activity, 5) I'll repeat this one a different way since you're not too bright: there are different types of crimes. Murder is different than a fight, is different from rape, is different from prostitution, is different from armed robbery. 6) Identifying that there is a distinction in the type of crime in no way indicates that the crime is acceptable. 7) Identifying that the type of crime was atypical from those reported in Patch is not racist. 8) Recognizing the fact that most predatory crime reported by Patch is commited by young black males is not racist. 9) Your last statement is absurd; identifying types of crimes, the perps, patterns, etc is precisely what is done when attempting to prevent and solve crimes. 10) Ignoring crime stats and instead directing your anger against your neighbors rather than the criminals is proof of your ignorance.
