Georgia Tech Hoops Assistant Arrested For DUI
Second-year coach Josh Postorino will not be on the bench "for an indefinite period of time in order to deal with personal issues" according to statement released by the team.
The Georgia Tech men’s basketball team over the weekend remained undefeated in its new basketball arena, but did so without one of its assistant coaches watching from the bench.
The Yellow Jackets used a late 9-0 spurt to overtake pesky UNC-Wilmington Saturday night and turn back the Seahawks 73-66 at McCamish Pavilion.
Missing from the contest was Tech assistant coach Josh Postorino, who was reportedly arrested early Thursday morning for DUI in Jacksonville, Fla.

The team released a statement shortly before Saturday’s game indicating the 35-year-old coach, who is in his second season with the Jackets, would not be on the bench “for an indefinite period of time in order to deal with personal issues.”
Postorino, a former director of basketball operations at DePaul University, had been in Florida recruiting. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that following Tech’s victory Saturday, coach Brian Gregory said that “out of respect for Josh,” he was going to allow the team’s statement stand on its own.

The Jackets are 4-0 in their new building and 6-2 overall. The two losses came to California (6-2) in the DirecTV Classic on a neutral court in the Golden State, and at undefeated Illinois (10-0), which should move into the top-10 national rankings on Monday.
Winners of just 11 games last year, the Jackets are in the midst of a seven-game home stand that continues on Monday, Dec. 17 against Alabama State. It will be followed by home games against:
- The Citadel, December 22 at 4 p.m.
- Fordham, December 29 at 7 p.m.
- Tennessee-Chattanooga, January 2 at 7 p.m.
- Miami-Florida, January 5 at 2:30 p.m.
Last week, the Jackets defeated rival Georgia for the second straight year as returnees Mfon Udofia and Daniel Miller have received nice support from newcomers Robert Carter Jr. and Marcus Georges-Hunt in helping the team start the 2012-13 season in positive fashion.
