Spring opening for former Hotel Midtown as Hyatt Atlanta Midtown

Our Midtown Patch Picture of the Day is of the former Hotel Midtown that Noble Investment Group is currently spending $20 million-plus in renovating and rebranding from an independent hotel to a full-service Hyatt.

Hotel Midtown, located at 125 10th Street between Peachtree and Juniper streets, had been struggling with occupancy rates and the massive renovation is hoped to give a boost to the hotel originally constructed in the mid 80s.

The 194-room Hyatt Atlanta Midtown is set to open in April and will become Hyatt Hotels Corp.’s first hotel in Midtown and Atlanta-based Noble Investment’s third. The others are the W hotel at 14th and Juniper streets and Residence Inn at 17th and Peachtree streets.

Originally built in 1986, the building’s exterior façade is losing its red brick, triangular bay windows, and green metal roof in favor of a more modern look of concrete composite and glass panels. The interior is being gutted and all guest rooms and suites revamped.

Expect a more pedestrian-enticing entrance and a Hyatt-branded dining concept to replace the former Mojito Restaurant Lounge that will face 10th Street. From its website:

It comes on the heels of December's opening of Midtown's newest hotel, the dual branded Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton, just a few blocks away at the corner of 10th and Williams streest. 

As Curbed Atlanta noted several months back, the renovation of the former Hotel Midtown follows another Midtown high-rise undergoing some changes as last year Campanile office tower had its green glass and triangular prism removed from atop the building that stands at the corner of Peachtree and 14th streets.
