Incorporating Empty Storefronts into the Canvas of Artists

URBANfronts Storefront Galleries project to come to Midtown in April.

An Atlanta architects group is eying empty storefronts in Midtown — casualties of the recession — for a project that seeks to highlight undiscovered artists.

URBANfronts would take empty storefronts in Midtown and use them to showcase the works of up-and-coming artists.

Sponsored by the American Institute of Architecture of Atlanta, the effort, slated to come online in April, aims to spark design conversations, take what would be an empty storefront for artists and raise awareness about the local talent.

The artistic disciplines include traditional art, architecture, dance, fashion, furniture, graphic design and landscape among others.

Organizers are looking for submissions to use as part of the effort. Specifically, organizors seek:

URBANfront Gallery Submissions are invited for the following:

♦   Storefront Installations.

♦   Interactive Installations (10’-0” x 10’-0”).

♦   Dance proposals for the Opening Reception.
