It's Electric: Atlantic Station Eyes Electric Cars

Atlantic Station officials could install two electric car stations in the next month.

Atlantic Station officials are hoping to encourage the use of electric cars, according to a report from WABE.

The mixed-use development could install two electric car stations in the next month, the report says.

"A big part of the original vision behind Atlantic Station was the idea of a sustainable, green community for the 21st century," according to a blog post from Atlantic Station. "With the rising popularity of hybrids and fully-electric cars like the Nissan Leaf, charging stations in Atlantic Station are really the next logical step."

WABE reports the stations could cost between $20,000 and $30,000 each. They could be located near Dillard's or Regal Cinemas.

Public chargers work best where people are likely to spend an hour or two at least, so I think this is a good fit, Atlantic Station has resturants, shopping and a movie theater, all places you are likely to spend some time.

At those prices, there must be Level 3 (CHAdeMO protocol) charging stations; they can fill-up a LEAF from 0% to 80% in 30 minutes; but as you are usually not at 0% anyway, we will be able to charge in 10 to 20 minutes.
