Longtime Atlanta news anchor charged with DUI after wrong way crash in Midtown
Fox 5 Emmy Award-winning journalist allegedly was driving her vehicle north in the southbound lanes of Piedmont Avenue early Sunday morning
FOX 5 News anchor Amanda Davis faces multiple charges including DUI following a wrong way, head-on crash early Sunday morning on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown.
According to an Atlanta police report, Davis allegedly was driving her vehicle north in the southbound lanes of Piedmont before hitting another car just before 12:30 a.m. The accident occurred near the intersection of Piedmont and 14th Street.
Neither driver was injured in the accident that resulted in significant damage to both cars. According to Atlanta police spokesman John Chafee, Davis admitted to consuming alcohol but refused to submit to the "Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and refused to submit to the State Administered Chemical Test/s."
In a addition to DUI, Davis was charged with failure to maintain lane and reckless driving. FOX 5 reported the incident on its website late Sunday and management issued a statement saying it was "currently investigating" the incident.
The Emmy Award-winning Davis has been at FOX 5 since 1986 and co-anchors for the station’s news at 6 p.m and 10 p.m.

Nah it was just a matter of time. She was a known drunk. You can see it in her face throughout her career. Russ was just waiting. I dont understand why these millionaires who drink don't ride in limos wherever they go.

Your concern as well as your comment if fake and laced with gossip like statements after a Sunday morning church visit. What help do you need? Stop finding a thrill in another's demise. If you are going to show real concern, call Ms Davis and ask her if she ever need anything you are willing to help.

@SAVED CHILD, yes, it is a shame what Amanda has done but what's more shameful is the spelling and grammar in your post! What school did/do you attend?

No sympathy for people that get a DUI in Atlanta. It is so easy to take MARTA or a taxi when you know you are going to be drinking. Especially for people that make a lot of money. What, do you have to show off your ride when you show up at a fancy restaurant or club? Is it low class to get off a train or be seen getting out of or into a taxi?

Wow,jealousy. You just have to do better and try harder to get to where Ms. Davis is. You can do it but you won't find it as long as you hate on others.

What could I possibly be jealous about? I do quite alright myself. It is stupid to drive if you've been drinking. Period. Especially when there are so many other options to get you home. I don't want to be where Ms. Davis is. She is the one with the DUI, not me.

It is a shame, she is a beautiful lady and great journalist. Hopefully, now that het secret is out she will het help. She must be beyond humiliated. @ Jessica, It's too bad that you feel the need to shame someone who was giving their heartfelt opinion. There's no need for Such vile behavior toward someone else. You owe Save Child an apology. And to all those who are taking delight in another's shame, just remember, it could be you. Just because she's well known in Atlanta for being on tv, doesn't mean she doesn't have problems in her life, just as we all do. She most definitely doesn't deserve special treatment, with a job like her's comes many responsibilities. How many times over the years had she reported on the results of driving while intoxicated? Hopefully, she just had her wake up call. May God bless her and her family during this very public ordeal and thanks be to God that no one was hurt or killed.

So what wake up call do you need? How or what does your family really think of you? Humm, don't be so sure. Be careful of taking pot shots of others. We all fall short.

I don't think making a reference to someone's poor grammar and spelling constitutes "vile behavior." Save Child's 'heartfelt' point would probably be better taken if it was written in proper English. Similarly, their spelling/grammar would also likely be better if people would let them know how stupid they sound. Should we forego educating people in the interest of not hurting ones feelings?
Amanda Davis on the other hand, can likely spell much better, but obviously can read traffic directions. Is she single btw?

People who are sick don't always know they are sick. Don't be so quick to judge someone. She made a horrible choice... one I'm sure she'd make differently if she were not sick. I know... I've been there and the added pain of the public humiliation and the lack of support from the people I worked so hard to inform almost caused my death. Judge not least ye be judged.

The only thing that me respond to this is the negative comment about this news anchor. No one is perfect, I have been fortunate to never have a DUI, but that's not to say I could never have gotten one. I had too many friends get one and I decided that i would rather leave my car anywhere.... I have a very good friend that is a top news anchor in Miami, and I would hate to see her like this... I heard this chic Amanda is a good girl, who made a mistake. You people sound like the Trashy Staff at TMZ, lay off of her and leave her alone!

Bernice - I am a bit sensitive about this issue, because I know of so many people who have lost their lives due to selfish and careless people who drank and drove. I remember like it was yesterday, a friend from high school, whose brother was killed on Delk Road, in Marietta, because of a drunk driver. I remember the pain that family endured.
I harbor no hatred towards Amanda Davis and am glad no one was badly hurt or killed. I hope she gets the help she needs and gets through this.
