Look what's up at Peachtree & 11th

A pair of new restaurants are busy with construction and targeting autumn openings across the street from each other in Midtown.

There’s been much action at the intersection of Peachtree and 11th streets these days and that’s where we stop by for our Midtown Patch Picture of the Day.

Occupying the northeast corner adjacent to Loews Atlanta Hotel, Café Intermezzo will soon bring its European flair to the $2 billion 12th & Midtown mixed-use development project on the Midtown Mile. It will replace the Brookwood location (1845 Peachtree Road) that has been open for almost 25 years. The Atlanta-based European coffeehouse is reported to be targeting a November opening.

Café Intermezzo offers more than 100 different tortes, tarts, cakes, pies and cheesecakes; scores of coffee beverages and other beverages with and without alcohol.

Across the street on the northwest corner, the Texas-based Mi Cocina is set to open in the 12th & Midtown development in October. Serving hand-crafted, fresh and traditional Tex-Mex cuisine in a modern, elegant setting, Mi Cocina is introducing itself to Atlanta with this restaurant readying itself for diners soon in the heart of Midtown.

The two-level space will have more than 300 seats, including two private dining rooms, and see here for more site plans.

What’s your take on the current restaurant happenings at Peachtree and 11th streets?

We relocated to Atlanta several months ago from Dallas, Texas, the home of Mi Cocina. We are so excited they are coming to Atlanta with the best Tex-Mex food and drinks we have ever experienced. Atlanta will love Mi Cocina

Oooh...the food at Mi Cocina will be 'hand-crafted!'

That's so much better than the food the robots down the street make.

I'm totally excited to get both of those places nearby -- I already loved when they finally fixed the alignment of 11th with Peachtree. Midtown is getting pretty awesome
