Midtown Hit-and-Run Results in DUI Arrest

Suspected drunk driver collides with parked cars along Myrtle Street Monday night and is later apprehended after abandoning his car near Grady High School.

 

A suspected drunk driver sideswiped at least two parked vehicles and maybe more early Monday evening in Midtown.

A man driving a maroon Nissan Murano hit the vehicles around 6:30 p.m. on Myrtle Street near 9th Street. While all the details are not presently known, it is believed that neighbors who witnessed the accident then gave chase.

The man ultimately abandoned his vehicle, which had no license plate, in the Grady High School parking lot near 8th Street. He was soon after apprehended according to Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was charged with several violations including DUI Less Safe, Chafee said.
