New Restaurant Openings in Midtown
New tenant set to take over the Five Napkin Burger space at the corner of Piedmont and 10th
The former Five Napkin Burger space at the corner of 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue in Midtown won't be vacant for long.
After a 12-month run, Five Napkin Burger closed last month in the 990 Piedmont Ave. space that had previously been the longtime home of Nickiemoto’s.
A source has confirmed to Patch that a gay-friendly establishment called "10" will serve food by day and become a bar by night and will soon open on the highly visable corner. It could offer a wide variety of entertainment during the evening including karaoke, bingo, charity events and more and a preview opening possibly could be staged as early as the annual Pride Festival next month.
According to the source, the new owners are local but do have out-of-town financial backing. The deal was completed late last week as the new owners reportedly have taken over Five Napkin's 30-year lease.
What Now Atlanta Atlanta reported earlier this month that the gay-friendly Hamburger Mary’s was interested in the prominent restaurant space, but that someone else was in the midst of renting it.
A source told Patch that "10" will be "similar" to Hamburger Mary's, which first opened in San Francisco in 1972 and now sports a dozen operating restaurants around the country. It’s motto is "an open-air bar and grill for open-minded people" and the menu is filled with double entendres with food and drinks named for gay icons.
Tomorrow's News Today reported that two men were spotted hoisting a temporary sign on the restaurant at Piedmont and 10th on Tuesday evening.

And finally, the former westside popular eatery, Bell Street Burritos, has relocated from its Howell Mill Road location to the Irwin Street Market in the Old Fourth Ward.
Shortly after the restaurant opened its second location on the westside nine months ago, Bell Street owners were notified by its landlord that the building was being sold, hence the move. Now located at 660 Irwin St., Bell Street Burritos is open Mon.-Thurs., 11 a.m.-9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Read more from East Atlanta Patch here.
