The comings and goings of Midtown and westside restaurants is a constant and there’s much going on both fronts these days.

Tuesday brings the opening of Bone Lick BBQ in the retail shops at Apex West Midtown. A spin off of P’cheen International Bistro and Pub’s popular weekly offering - Mike’s Monday Night Bone Lick BBQ - Atlanta’s newest barbecue destination will be open for lunch, dinner and delivery Tuesday through Sunday.

With floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of natural light, the 2,700-square foot restaurant located at 1133 Huff has a kitschy, vintage flair wrapped in a modern environment that screams great food, cold drinks and a good time.

In addition to his award-winning barbecue, pitmaster and chef Mike LaSage promises to have all of his award-winning favorites that kept P’cheen packed on Monday nights, but is also serving up new offerings in addition to homemade beef jerky and sausage, cured hams, specialty bacon, homemade sauces and more.

Before we move forward with other new openings, let’s pause for a moment of silence for a pair of Midtown restaurants that shuttered their doors over the weekend.

Kathleen McNeill with Yelp Atlanta tweeted a picture with the news that Table 1280 was no longer serving. The restaurant and tapas lounge located at The Woodruff Arts Center “will be temporarily closed, but will remain available for private event rentals” according to an announcement here.

And What Now Atlanta reported Monday that Five Napkin Burger at 990 Piedmont Avenue has closed after being operational for about a year.

The revamped spot in the former Nickiemoto’s at 10th St. and Piedmont featured gourmet burgers, wine, beer, milkshakes and floats.

About a block west on 10^th, Mint3 Thai & Sushi Bar has now opened in the space that formally housed The Tenth Thai Cuisine and Lounge at 132 10^th St. While there’s no website for the restaurant as of yet, but signage indicates that it is open daily 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and then again for dinner at 5 p.m. It will remain open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Next door, crews are busy readying Midtown’s newest grocery store. Mamanoes Grocery Shop will be opening on Aug. 21 at the corner of 10^th and Peachtree streets according to a sign on the space that once was home to Jocks & Jills. Described as “an old-school but upscale bodega,” this will be the second Mamnoes as the original is located in Birmingham, Ala.

The website Shop Birmingham described the store as follows:

Mamanoes sells wine, imported beer (including high-gravity brews), fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, sodas, juices, dog food, canned goods, assorted paper products, and a deli offering butcher's cuts and sliced meats and cheeses. For those in a hurry, orders can be placed online or phoned in, allowing customers to drive to the store for curbside pick-up service. Loft dwellers walking their dogs will have the convenience of shopping as their pets are pampered by a "pet valet" service, allowing patrons to leash their dogs in a covered area supplied with fresh water and inexpensive doggie treats.

Within the Midtown Neighborhood, Cruzado has opened in the former Las Palmeras spot at 366 5^th St. New owner Grace Lee told What Now Atlanta that the restaurant will remain predominately Cuban, but will also feature Puerto Rican and Colombian flavors.

While it’s not exactly new, the westside’s Cardamom Hill has been selected as one of Bon Appétit Magazine's 50 Best New Restaurants in America for 2012.

The eight-month-old Indian restaurant located at 1700 Northside Dr. was praised for its modern takes on traditional dishes and notes the magazine, "If chicken tikka masala and saag paneer are the extent of your knowledge of Indian food, it's time to visit this ATL favorite and explore the bright flavors of Kerala—a lush state in southern India at the center of the spice routes."

And finally, Watershed isn’t exactly new as it relocated from Decatur to 1820 Peachtree Rd., a few months back. But if you haven’t tried it yet, Tuesday, Aug. 14 might be a good time to do so as it is hosting the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s Supper Club dining event from 5 to 10 p.m.

Supper Club provides diners the pleasure of enjoying a meal at some of Atlanta’s hottest restaurants while supporting hunger relief. On Tuesday, Watershed will donate 20 percent of proceeds from the evening to Atlanta’s Table, the prepared food project of the Food Bank.
