Midtown Restaurants Coming: Chicken, Pizza & What?
Zaxby’s and Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint reportedly readying to open in the Midtown area in 2013.
The final day of 2012 saw E-Six Lab close its doors after 33 years of business. But it looks like the westside commercial space where the film development business was housed could soon be transformed into a new restaurant.
An application recently filed with the city for the space at 678 10th Street has an applicant seeking to reduce the on-site parking from 40 spaces to 20 on-site spaces to allow for "the conversion of the existing structure to an eat/drink establishment."
The building is located between Howell Mill Road and Northside Drive across the street from the Atlanta Humane Society. When contacted by Patch, the applicant declined to discuss future plans for a possible eatery. Stay tuned …
But a pair of recent vacated structures in the Midtown area will be home to new restaurants as first reported by Tomorrow’s News Today on Friday.
Zaxby’s will give it a go at 425 Ponce de Leon Avenue in the same spot where two previous chicken restaurants had failed. Church's Chicken shut down in December 2012 in the space that had been a KFC restaurant until closing in 2009, when the property became a hotspot for vagrants and illegal activity. It reopened in 2011 as a Church’s in the building that sits near the intersection of Parkway Drive and Ponce.
And at Ansley Mall, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint reportedly intends to open in the Boardwalk Burgers & Fries space after it shuttered its doors within the last few days after less than two years of operation.
