The Midtown celebrity tweet of the day comes from one of the area’s more notable former residents, RuPaul.

The celebrated drag queen/actor/model/author/recording actist came and went a few times from the Atlanta area during the late 70s and 80s and was a fixture on the local scene before striking it big in New York.

On his website, RuPaul, who was born and raised in San Diego, writes, “Till this day, when people ask me where I’m from, I say “Hotlanta!” I was really able to blossom there, just like the beautiful Dogwood trees do in the springtime.”

And on Thursday, RuPaul tweeted out to his 246,184 followers:
