Midtown Welcomes New Grocery Shop
Mamanoes comes to the heart of Midtown via Alabama.
Midtown’s newest grocery store is open and ready for business. Only it’s not exactly a grocery store.
“We’re a grocery shop,” explained Mamanoes Grocery Shop owner Antonio Boyd. “The difference is that if we don’t have it we can get it. How fast can I get it? Probably the next day if it’s within reason.”
Boyd opened Mamanoes the Friday before Labor Day in the former Jocks & Jills Sports Grill space at the intersection of 10th and Peachtree Streets. The boutique grocer marks the second locale after Boyd opened the first Mamanoes in Birmingham two years ago.
What can you find at Mamanoes? A little bit of everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to sliced meats to home essentials to dairy and frozen foods to fresh sandwiches and salads and much, much more. Soon beer and wine will be offered and if you’re looking for exotic meats to grill during football season, Mamanoes is your source.
The Mamanoes mission is simple: “To provide consumers with clean, safe, customer friendly food shops offering a variety of staple and pleasure products desired for day to day use and ensure that we are in command of the current trends, customer needs, and approaches necessary to make available the best quality products and service for consumers when they are in a Mamanoes Grocery Shop.”
But what's with the name?
"Because your mama knows and my mama knows,” Boyd explained. “It was a tribute to my mama and all the mamas out there.”
Mamanoes Grocery Shop is located at 112 10th Street and is open seven days a week. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Phone: 404-883-2865.
