Who do you want to see play Music Midtown 2012?

The festival was held 12 times from 1994-2005, but then was put on hiatus before returning last September, when tens of thousands of fans piled into Piedmont Park to attend the one-day festival headlined by The Black Keys and Coldplay.

To decrease the impact on the neighborhood, festival organizers intend to perform the major stage and equipment load-in, which includes intermittent street closures on 10th Street between Charles Allen Drive and Monroe Drive, on Sunday, September 16.

Live Nation has communicated that is committed to communicating extensively with the Midtown community, with major outreach to begin in late June. The application will be up for discussion at a future meeting of Neighborhood Planning Unit-E, which makes recommendations to the Atlanta City Council.

Typically, the NPU-E asks applicants to seek the opinion of the neighborhood first. The Midtown Neighbors’ Association has been vocal in recent months, including last week’s MNA Board of Directors meeting, about the impact of Piedmont Park's festivals on the neighborhood.
