Midtown Alliance and the City of Atlanta Department of Planning & Community Development will be hosting an Open House later this month to get feedback on plans for a new sidewalk and bicycle project on Juniper Street that will help transform the corridor into one of Atlanta’s greenest streets.

The Open House will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 30 from 5-7 p.m. at 999 Peachtree Street, Suite 500. See here to register.

Plans for new, high quality bicycle facilities in Midtown on 10^th Street, and Piedmont Avenue will also be discussed. 

Midtown Alliance and City of Atlanta representatives will kick off the meeting with a brief presentation between 5 and 5:30 p.m. of each project and how they fit into the City’s Connect Atlanta Plan. Staff and consultants will be available for the remainder of the meeting to answer specific questions.

Make plans to come and give your input on the next phase of these Midtown projects, including: 

• 10^th Street Two-Way Cycle Track from Monroe Drive to Charles Allen Drive – Through a partnership with the City of Atlanta, the PATH Foundation, and Atlanta BeltLine, Inc., this project will create a two-way separated bike facility or “cycle track” on 10^th Street between Piedmont and Monroe Avenues. The facility would serve as an extension of the BeltLine Eastside Trail, connecting cyclists to Piedmont Park, the Midtown Core and the Midtown MARTA Station as well as future bike routes on Juniper Street, Piedmont Avenue and 10^th Street.

• Juniper Street from 14^th Street to Ponce de Leon Avenue – Embracing the principles of Greenprint Midtown, this project proposes a one-way southbound cycle track (barrier separated bike lane) along with new sidewalks, trees, high efficiency street lighting, permanent on-street parking and green stormwater infrastructure. This project was awarded a $3.4 million construction grant from the Atlanta Regional Commission.

• Piedmont Avenue – Functionally linked to Juniper as its complementary one-way pair, Piedmont Avenue between 14^th Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue is envisioned to include a one-way northbound cycle track (buffered bike lane) as well as installation of permanent on-street parking in key locations.  

There will be secure bicycle parking located in the ground floor level of the parking deck, and automobile parking accessible from Peachtree Place or Juniper Street

Directions via transit - Take the MARTA Gold or Red Line to Midtown Station and head two blocks east to the building. Also accessible via bus routes 12, 27, 99, and 110.
