Saturday morning tree planting in Midtown

Volunteers will be planting trees in the landscaping strip between the sidewalk and the curb and in front of houses.

Get down and dirty while helping make Midtown green!

Trees Atlanta intends to plant more than 90 street and yard trees in the Midtown neighborhood Saturday morning and is looking for more volunteers. Those interested are asked to bring drinking water and gloves (but Trees Atlanta will be providing both) and meet at the Grady High School Pencil at Charles Allen Drive and 9th Street.

Volunteers will be planting trees in the landscaping strip between the sidewalk and the curb and in front of houses. Trees help provide shade, slow traffic, reduce crime and add beauty to the neighborhood.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and the project is made possible through grants from the City of Atlanta and Trees Atlanta, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and improving urban environment by planting and conserving trees.

If you can’t attend but would still like to help financially, make checks payable to Trees Atlanta and send to 225 Chester Avenue, Atlanta, 30316.

For more information, the neighborhood contact is Jennifer Kjellgren at 404-307-6634 and Jennifer@intownexpert.com. The Trees Atlanta contact is Monique Torbert at 404-681-4902 or 313-995-3469 and at Monique@treesatlanta.org.

I think mother nature is going to cooperate with us this time! We will do this rain or shine - as long as there are not thunderstorms. Come on out ya'll!

Thanks for sharing the photos, Jennifer. Looks like you had a nice turnout. How many trees did you get planted?

We planted 91. According to Trees Atlanta - we had both a larger than normal turnout and number of trees also - so it was a great success!
