Whether you order it for your sweetie or to treat (console?) your single self this Valentine’s Day, the Sweet Tart cocktail at Whiskey Park is an affordable luxury that will tickle your nose.

Pink liquid fun, the Sweet Tart is a lip-smacking combination of Stoli Raspberry vodka, champagne, fresh lemon juice and strawberry jam. That’s right: Jam. The mixologists at Whiskey Park have transformed that sticky stuff you slather on your toast each morning into an elegant sipper.

“The inspiration for this Valentine’s Day drink came from two things,” said Jarrod Levine, general manager. “Clark Moore, our mixologist for Gerber Group, noticed a lot of ladies recently ordering raspberry lemon drops. He’s also recently grown fascinated with drinks that use preserves and jellies as an ingredient — it’s the new rage and they are fun to play with because jams and jellies add a unique layer of sweetness without being overly sweet since there’s acid as well.”

The Sweet Tart successfully marries these cocktail trends and lifts the concept of strawberries and champagne to a bold new level.

As with any cocktail, the balance of flavors is key: “Any time you have balance between sweet, sour, acid and alcohol you taste all the flavors without being overwhelmed by one,” Levine said. “This one is especially successful in that regard.”

“Customer reaction has been fantastic,” he said. “Everybody loves it. They order one and then another. It’s very popular.”

And so, although this is the first cocktail on a Gerber Group menu featuring jam as an ingredient, expect to see more.

“Hopefully it’s a trend,” Levine said. “You’ll see more creative drinks coming out on Gerber Group menus in the future that have different jams, jellies and other ingredients that you may not normally find in cocktails.”

Sweet Tart, which costs $12, is available at Whiskey Park through February. But if you fall in love with it, don’t fret as the month draws to an end: “If somebody comes in here in March and orders it, we’ll be glad to make one,” Levine said. “I have a feeling it will come back next February.”

So this is one fling that you may encounter the same time next year.
