I would like to see stages throughout the park with different types of music instead of everyone jamming themselves between two stages walking back and forth. They need to spread it out to seem like a festival. It was too congested and really only geared to the 18-24 yr old demographic.

It seemed very well organized. I liked the fact that those of us who live in the neighborhood but did not attend Music Midtown could still access the park and walk our dogs, unlike other festivals held in the park.

We arrived before gates opened on Friday and were some of the first ones into the park. My specific mission was to see The Avett Brothers (as up close and personal as possible), so we immediately went to the stage they were scheduled to perform at and got a spot right in front of the stage. I love Joan Jett too, so this was an added bonus. We literally did not move from our spot from 4pm until the Avetts' set was over at 9. Not to eat, not to drink, not to pee. Now that is some dedication! And let me say, it was MORE than worth it!! They were the heart and soul of the festival for me. It would be nice if the vendors walking around the crowds were selling more than beer. For us dedicated fans in the crowd who don't want to lose their spot, it would be nice to have a chance to get a bottle of water. I did bring one bottle with me, but that was gone fast!! I've heard complaining about not enough port-o-potties, which was a HUGE issue last year when I attended. I like to have a few drinks at festivals, but when you know you will have to wait 30 minutes in line to use the bathroom, it is a deterent. If they want to see more alcohol at these things, they need to provide more bathrooms.

Garbage, Adam Ant, and Pearl Jam definitely weren't for the 18-24 demographic. The 35-50 crowd was well represented.

I wish there were a way to police all the smokers in a smoke-free park. The asthma attack I am having this morning isn't much fun. Sadly for me, I don't think it will ever change. Tabernacle and Phillips Arena don't police it either.

Loved every minute of it...Well except waiting in line for the bathroom! Great line up - Great time!

Living across the street, I thought it was very well managed. Made for great lawn parties. This time they did close all of Tenth Street east of Piedmont - unlike other festivals that let the traffic come all the way to Chas Allen and let it snarl there. Had no trouble getting around when I needed to go to the store, etc. It was nice to have the streets all to ourselves, as far as vehicular traffic and parking goes. And it was nice to walk my dog in the middle of Tenth Street. It would have been nice to have a third day of Music Midtown. Next time I wish they would turn the bandshell toward the neighborhood some more.

Does anyone know how much Music midtown paid for the use of the park for this for profit private event? Is it enough to encourage more private events and make more money for the park?

Tim, the promoters paid the City $250,000, plus $1 for each ticket that was sold that contributed to Mayor Kasim Reed’s Centers of Hope initiative, which helps fund recreation centers and after-school activities for young people in the city, including upgrades to computer labs, security and other IT needs. The best part was sitting in Blakes and watching the straight men walk into the bar. Most of them figured it out within 5 seconds.

I thought it was a decent show. Florence + the Machine was the best part for me. Friday was nice and relaxed. Saturday was a hot mess. Way too many people. I was one of the crowd sitting on the hill on my blanket. We had to deal with people from below ramming their way up the hill which was quite annoying. Besides tons of people stepping on me and my stuff, bumping me, etc., one girl actually totally clobbered me- knocked me down and sent my glasses flying. By that point, I had enough. They needed more food trucks. A girl sitting next to me had to wait in line over an hour for a slice of pizza. Wow. I was smarter and waiting till Pearl Jam was playing. :-) No line for Com by that point.

The bathroom situation was absolutely horrible. It was horrible last year as well. Something needs to be done about this. We were in line for almost an hour and a girl in my party actually peed her pants because she literally could not hold it anymore. Might I suggest a similar set-up as the Port-a-Potties at 420 fest? Basically a whole mess of them (50-60) in an open square formation, rather than in a line. Also, troughs for the men.

Glad you could leave and come back this year. It was so crowded and hot I had to leave to the rest of the [quiet] park for about 15 minutes to cool down and catch my breath. Having a smashed up spot near the stage for hours at a time while drinking and... can really leave a person dehydrated and claustrophobic! But Florence was absolutely awesome, Eddie Vedder didn't make too much fun of GA (it was hilarious and sad to hear all the people cheer his statement that in this great state a student can't use a student id to vote but anyone can use a firearm license to vote...it was a comment about society people, not something to brag about, LoL).

Judging by the crowd, this festival is ready for more modern day bands (in addition to classics of course). Counterpoint is going to be for the kiddies, but pulling in a couple of the larger acts from that festival to entertain the older college/20s crowd at Music Midtown would definitely go a long way next year. Still keep the Pearl Jams and the Coldplays though!
