Tech Students Create 9/11 Memorial from 3,000 Flags

Group organizes events to commemorate 10th anniversary of attacks.

Wednesday morning the Georgia Tech College Republicans planted almost 3,000 flags at an open lawn on campus.

The memorial is part of a series of 9/11 events the group is organizing that are open to the public:

  • NATIONAL SECURITY LECTURE: Former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, Marc Thiessen, will discuss national security in the country today. Are we vulnerable to another attack? The lecture will be held Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the LeCraw Auditorium at the Georgia Tech College of Management on West Peachtree Street.
  • MEMORIAL VIGIL: A reflective memorial vigil will be held Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Kessler Campanile by the student center, 350 Ferst Drive.
