The Weekend's Not Over Yet

The pollen count is down, but the choices for Midtown fun are way, way up.

The weekend’s here and Friday night’s rain has helped keep the pollen count Saturday under 1,000 for the first time in 16 days. Woo-fricking-hoo!

Sure the weekend’s almost halfway done, but there’s much to do. Like check out the Atlanta Film Festival, which concludes its 10-day run on Sunday. Two films worth seeing are “Derby, Baby!’’ on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. and “AKA Blondie” on Sunday evening. Both are being screened at the .

Today also kicks off Atlanta’s Hotel Restaurant Week, which will take place through April 7. Thirty dollars buys you a three-course meal off a prix-fixe menu and local participating hotel restaurants include:

If you’re looking to party late into the night, Whiskey Park at the is teaming up with New York City’s 4AM DJs to present WISH Saturdays: 4AM INVASION, a monthly series that will leave Atlanta electrified.  This Saturday night brings DJ Sinatra – who was recently spotted spinning in the New Year with Drake at W South Beach. 

The event goes from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., and who knows who might show up. Last week, singers Brandy and Monica were spotted at W Atlanta – Midtown for V103’s “Soul Session” concert series installments.

The crowd of more than 500 VIP guests were treated as Brandy sang a portion of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” prior to joining Monica to preform “The Boy is Mine.”

Sunday of course is Palm Sunday and churches throughout Midtwon will be celebrating, inclduing , which will be holding a Palm Sunday Procession & Worship beginning at 11 a.m.

Join members of the “Art on the Atlanta BeltLine” committee on Sunday as they introduce you to the space for their 2012 exhibition. If you or an artist you know is thinking of submitting a proposal for this year’s temporary public art project, Sunday’s walk is the perfect chance to scope out the corridor.

This affords the opportunity to submit a site-specific proposal if you would like, or just peruse the corridor and imagine it filled with performing and visual arts. Meet in the Park Tavern parking lot at 2 p.m. to participate.

And finally, the Atlanta Hawks Foundation will be returning to Sunday eveninig for its annual fundraiser, “Casino Night.” Every single member of the Atlanta Hawks roster is scheduled to participate in the casino related activities, and all proceeds from the event will go directly to the Atlanta Hawks Foundation for community programming and grant giving throughout the state of Georgia.

Hawks public address announcer and V103 on-air personality Ryan Cameron is serving as emcee for the event. Tickets cost $125 for the general public and $100 for season ticket holders and can be purchased here or by calling 404-878-3497. Guests must be 21 years of age or older to attend.
