Tête-à-Tête Tents In Midtown

Park Tavern’s cabanas offer shade, privacy

Gazing into the eyes of your date is dreamier when you’re not also rubbing elbows with some dude at the table next to yours. You can avoid such awkwardness at Park Tavern by reserving a cabana.

“We have twelve cabanas,” says Paul Smith, the owner of Park Tavern. “If you want to be sure that you get one for a special occasion—we’ve had a lot of people propose there—it’s best to reserve in advance.”

Reserve a cabana and it’s exclusively yours for three hours. Each cabana offers space and seating for up to four or six people—so couples have plenty of elbow room.

While you might get lucky and be seated in a cabana without a reservation, it’s a non-refundable $25 to book one and avoid the gamble. Thanks to the “rain and wind clause,” if the weather doesn’t cooperate then Park Tavern will reserve a cabana for you another day and time at no extra fee.

Introduced to the dining menu six months ago, the “salt block experience” is already a popular choice. Alongside the meal you’re provided a hot block of Himalayan Salt upon which you cook your own Hawaiian sashimi grade fish and tender wagyu beef. “You’re in charge,” says Smith. “Cook to your desired temperature—you could eat it raw if you like or just sear it or cook it well done.”

The salt block experience meal, priced at $28.99 per person, includes edamame, mixed green salad with ginger dressing, sushi rice, seaweed wraps and everything you need to make your own hand rolls (including helpful hints from the server).

“We fly our fish direct from Hawaii via Fed Ex daily,” says Smith. “I think we’re one of the only sushi bars in the southeast that uses this top source. Additionally, we are known for our wagyu beef which is the bloodline of Japanese cattle used to breed kobe beef.”

Other popular menu items include bison and beef burgers, salads and sandwiches. Five beers are brewed on site.

The restaurant, which is open year-round, overlooks Piedmont Park and the Midtown Atlanta skyline. A skating rink will be open from Thanksgiving through Valentine’s Day.
