Two More Huff Road Businesses Victimized by Smash and Grabs
Thieves break into westside interior design company and next door restaurant early Wednesday morning.
For the second time this month, smash-and-grab thieves wreaked havoc on the westside’s Huff Road.
According to the Atlanta police, both Interiors by Consignment and Urban pL8 at 1082 Huff Road had their storefronts smashed early Wednesday shortly after 1 a.m. Atlanta Police Officer John Chafee said the front door of Urban pL8 in suite C was busted with a large rock and the cash register was taken.
Next door in suite D, the front door of Interiors by Consignment was also busted, but it is undetermined if anything was taken.
According to Chafee, an off-duty officer who lives in the area told responding officers that he heard glass breaking and later saw three males run from one of the businesses and speed off in a black Jeep Cherokee. The vehicle was later spotted by a police unit that eventually lost sight of it.
The vehicle, a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with GA tag 292LAE, has been reported stolen. No arrests have been made at this time.
On its Facebook Page, Urban pL8 posted a surveillance video of the crime. The restaurant was hosted a post-burglary "Survivors not Victims" dinner special on Wednesday night.
Another Huff Road business just down the road was a victim of a smash and grab a little more than a week ago. That's when the surveillance camera inside Corner Tavern caught a car repeatedly trying to smash through the glass storefront in an attempt to steal their ATM machine from the business.
In mid-January, thieves plowed a stolen vehicle through Midtown’s Mac’s Beer and Wine's doors and raided the business of high-end liquors and champagnes before making a getaway in a second stolen vehicle.
