Volunteers Needed: Help Plan Walk to Stop Violence Against Women
Make a difference in the Midtown community with these volunteer opportunities.
2013 Spring Walk Planning Committee Members
Georgia Chapter of the U.S. National Committee for UN Women
Volunteers needed from Feb. 1 to May 18 for the Planning Committee to:
- Prepare for the event on the day of the walk in Piedmont Park
- Identify sponsors
- Solicit donations to sponsor the t-shirt as well as in-kind donations (e.g.- protein bars, etc)
- Solicit donations for the infrastructure (e.g. - tents for face painting)
- Market the event
Georgia Public Broadcasting
Volunteer Need: answer calls and take pledges from GPB viewers and listeners during the GPB’s television membership campaign in March or radio membership campaign in April. GPB volunteers will receive a catered meal provided by Carole Parks Catering Company, free parking and training!
How Often: flexible, one time or several times during March and April
Furkids, Inc. at 650 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE
Volunteer Need: The adoption center manager trains new volunteers, maintains food and supply inventory and more.
How Often: flexible
Certified Speech/Physical/Occupational Therapists
GiGi's Playhouse Atlanta Down Syndrome Awareness Center, 549 Amsterdam Ave.
Volunteer Need: help create occupational therapy lesson plans that address fine motor and sensory skills and use your expertise to lead a one-hour class with the kids and their parents
How Often: flexible
Artemis Guild of Young Professionals
Fernbank Museum of Natural History at 767 Clifton Road NE
Volunteer Need: Attend monthly meetings and help to plan Fernbank's annual fundraiser, Lost Oasis. Join a Planning Committee: Marketing, Silent Auction, Corporate Sponsorship, Patron Sponsorship or Logistics.
