Streets around the in Midtown were shut down on Thursday as stars started to walk down the red carpet for the 2011 Soul Train Awards.

Performers for the event included Kurtis Blow, Anthony Hamilton, Naughty By Nature, Lloyd, Mindless Behavior, Common, Jill Scott, Natalie Cole and Melanie Fiona. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Necole Bitchie, Kel Mitchell, Amber Rose and Doug E. Fresh were just some of the presenters for the event honoring Gladys Knight and Earth, Wind and Fire.

The Soul Train Awards will air on Nov. 27 at 9 p.m.
