Would You Want a Gun Range Near You?

Loring Heights residents concerned over planned shooting range.

A planned shooting range in the West Atlanta neighborhood of Loring Heights has some residents concerned for their safety.

The 30,000-square-foot proposed project on Bishop street would replace a plumbing supply building, and would have 24 indoor firing lanes, according to Creative Loafing.

Michael Halbriech, co-owner of Stoddard's Range and Guns, told the newsweekly that it will be open to the public and Atlanta law enforcment personnel.

The property's current zoning allows for a gun range, but Loring Heights residents are concerned, particularly in the wake of the national debate over gun rights and several mass shootings.

Halbriech and his business partner, Ken Baye, say they want community input.

"We want to include everybody," Halbriech told Creative Loafing. "We want people's input. We want to know what concerns people have."
