12th Annual 5K Legal Runaround

The Atlanta Bar Association announces the 12th Annual Legal Runaround, a 5K race, walk and tot trot.   Proceeds benefit the Atlanta Bar Foundation Police Scholarship Fund which provides college scholarships to the children of Atlanta police officers killed or disabled in the line of duty. For those that cannot participate but would still like to support the cause, “Phantom Runners” can make donations and will be mailed a t-shirt.

WHAT: The Legal Runaround.

WHERE:  Piedmont Park, Double Decker Pavilion.  Pets and Strollers are welcome.

WHEN:  Saturday, September 1, 2012; Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K to begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 1 mile walk to begin at 9:15 a.m.

PEACE OFFICER OF THE YEAR AWARD:  After the race, the Atlanta Bar Association will present the Peace Officer of the Year Award to Senior Police Officer Andrew Moline and Officer Adam Galvin, Zone 5 Precinct.  The Peace Officer of the Year Award is given annually to City of Atlanta police officers who have displayed exemplary qualities of professionalism, courage and/or gone above and beyond the call of duty within the last year.

Piedmont Park is the largest green space in Atlanta and is also one of Midtown's most historic sites. The park features a lake, meadow, dog park and stunning views of Midtown's skyline. Visitors can enjoy a number of recreational activities, including swimming, tennis, volleyball, bocce, baseball, cycling and rollerblading throughout the park's 189-acres. There are multiple areas with grills and benches for picnics, as well as multiple playgrounds for children. Though there is a new parking deck for the Park and neighboring facilities, visitors are still encouraged to arrive by foot or public transportation.
