DESCRIPTION:This photographic exhibition of noted photojournalist Charles
  &ldquo\;Teenie&rdquo\; Harris poetically captures African American life
  from Jim Crow through the civil rights eras in Pittsburgh\, PA. Teenie 
 Harris\, Photographer: An American Story features selections of Harris&r
 squo\;s most striking and historically significant images. The photograp
 hs&mdash\;made in his studio and for the Pittsburgh Courier&mdash\;chron
 icle the Pittsburgh community throughout the Jim Crow and civil rights e
 ras. Harris captured the poetry of everyday life of African Americans du
 ring the period and extraordinary people who shaped the 20th century\, s
 uch as baseball star Jackie Robinson and leaders Martin Luther King Jr. 
 and John F. Kennedy. On loan from Pittsburgh&rsquo\;s Carnegie Museum of
  Art\, the exhibit is making its premiere in the South at the Atlanta Un
 iversity Center Robert W. Woodruff Library and is sponsored by PNC Bank.
 \nComplementing the exhibit is the Trezzvant Anderson: Roving Reporter a
 nd Jim Crow South archival display. Anderson and Harris were colleagues 
 at the Pittsburgh Courier\, with Anderson traveling throughout the south
 ern states to report on civil rights activities in cities including Atla
 nta. In conjunction with the exhibits\, the Library is hosting a series
