The Optimist is a seafood restaurant and oyster bar, serving lunch and dinner. The menu includes seafood gumbo, frothy she-crab soup, smoked white fish chowder, duck fat poached swordfish, seared yellowfin tuna, cornmeal crusted acadian redfish and wood roasted beets. There are several specialty beers on tap and a much wider selection of bottled beers such as Red Stripe, Duvel, Sweetwater 420, Pure Cider and Yuengling. The oyster bar at The Optimist offers fresh iced and roasted oysters cooked in its wood-fired oven. There is also a miniature golf course in the courtyard and seating is available at the tables outside or at the bar.
