Home Invasion on Penn Avenue in Midtown - Assailant Still on the Loose

The cell phone was tracked, but did not lead to the perp.

Apparently there was another horrifying home invasion in the Midtown area just this week.  The Midtown Ponce Security Alliance is reporting that a woman living on Penn Avenue was attacked inside her home on Tuesday afternoon, November 5th.

According to the article, the victim had just returned home when she heard a knock on her door and after she opened it, a man forced his way inside.  The assailant again seems to be an opportunist, because the victim says she only opened the door because she had just walked in and was expecting a delivery.

Unfortunately this 40 year-old man, described as a black male, was able to force his way in and proceed to beating the woman while demanding her car keys and other valuables.

The Midtown-Ponce Security Alliance says that, "since she was in the basement of the house she did not have any of those things with her. When she attempted to persuade him that her husband was upstairs with guns, the perp grabbed her cell phone, staple gun, and a pair of scissors and fled."

The cell phone was able to be tracked to the West End area, but it seems to have been a little too late.  According to the people who were in the vicinity of the cell phone when APD tracked it, they had just bought it hours before from a person on the street.

The suspects were put into a lineup for the victim to attempt to identify, but she did not see the person who assaulted her.

APD is hopeful that they can squeeze one or two leads out from the suspects who were in possession of her phone, but in the meantime residents are asked to continue to be aware of their surroundings and not to trust anyone.
