BaconFest Releases Bands, Games and Entertainment Lineup for 2014 Event

The 14th annual BaconFest - and first one to take place outside the Dad's Garage Theatre grounds, will descend upon the Masquerade Music Park on Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. In addition to the copious amounts of bacon and beer, Dad’s Garage Theatre is happy to announce the 3rd, 4th and 5th most important elements at this years BaconFest. Sponsored by MailChimp, the event will be a gluttonously unforgettable day filled with nonstop live music, entertainment and games, bacon galore, and plenty of ice cold beer courtesy of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Selling out every year, all proceeds benefit Dad’s Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at www.dadsgarage.com for ages 21 and up.

Full of kitsch and not for the faint of heart, the game and entertainment booths at BaconFest are created and manned by the wildly entertaining Dad’s Garage improv actors. This year’s games include: Hobo Wine Tasting with the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club; Chill the Eff Out with Lucky Yates; Improvised Advice; Shut the Box; Terrible Caricatures; Compliments by Karen; Mistress Scraps, Fortune Teller; Dr. Boobies, M.D.; Sanitary Smooches; Naughty Face Painting; Shecky Bergman's Mini Roast; Game On's Video Game Truck; Adult Bounce House; Fitness Battalion's Fitness Challenge (winner gets a treat, loser gets a carrot); Mary Todd Hair and Beard Stylings; Bone Lick BBQ Stand Up Comedy Booth; Kanga Blaster Booth; Palookaville Corndog Obstacle Course; The Wheel of Schatz; and the Turner Bike Face Off.

Local businesses have also jumped on board to provide tastings, activities, and special offerings for attendees, including Whynatte, Happy Hour Confections, Frozen Pints Ice Cream, Bone Lick BBQ, Establishment, The Wrecking Bar, The Atlanta Rollergirls, Dough Bakery, and The Atlanta Freedom Band.

While the more than 2,250 pounds of bacon donated by The Vortex Bar & Grill and cooked up by Thumbs Up Diner is always the main attraction, this year, Dad’s Garage has booked four local favorites to take the stage that are sure to keep the event rocking from start to finish. BaconFest’s 2014 entertainment lineup is comprised of Thimblerig Circus; Blast Off Burlesque; The Seed and Feed Marching Abominable; The Dirt Poets; and The Soggy Top Boys.

As always, BaconFest’s silent auction has an array of items, packages and experiences that are up for grabs, including a pair of round-trip tickets to anywhere in the continental United States on Delta Airlines and dinner for 10 at Chef Kevin Gillespie's latest restaurant, Gunshow. Additional silent auction items have generously been donated by the Cartoon Network, FX's Archer, Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters, Muss & Turners, Atlantic Station, and many more. All proceeds from the auction benefit Dad’s Garage Theatre.

About Dad’s Garage Theatre Company:
Founded in 1995, Dad's Garage Theatre Company has grown from a small volunteer led organization to a thriving mid-size theatre led by professional artistic and administrative staff that includes over 300 volunteers and performers. In 2013, Dad’s Garage which had entertained more than 30,000 people at their two-theatre facility in Inman Park, was forced to look for a new home as a result of development in the area. Temporarily staying at neighboring 7 Stages Theatre in Little Five Points, the theatre continues to produce its own productions in addition to public events across Atlanta and the state, and at improv festivals across the continent. In addition to outrageous original productions, Dad’s Garage is currently searching for its new home in and around the Inman Park and Little Five Points area of Atlanta, with the hopes of announcing the new location in 2014.  For more information, visit Dad's Garage Theatre Company online at dadsgarage.com
