Georgia for Dean 10 Year Reunion - Because "You Have the Power!"

Ten years ago, a random bunch of citizens gathered in Georgia and transformed American politics forever. Georgia For Dean is having a reunion at Manuel's Tavern tonight, July 26 at 7:00 p.m. in the back bar -- back in the same place we gathered those years ago.

Team members are flying in from all over the nation to celebrate at the place where it all began. Others will be Skyping in to the event.

This is a team that created a blue print used by both Barrack Obama's campaign team and The Tea Party.

Georgia For Dean was the lynch pin grassroots organization among 9 original state interest groups who began connecting through Yahoo! Groups. Georgia For Dean established the national grassroots efforts and key mechanisms which helped turn a dark horse candidate into a major force for change within the Democratic Party.

Achievements of Georgia For Dean:

  • First to create and utilize online fundraising (The Bat!)
  • Clay Johnson (GFD co-founder) later co-founded Blue State Digital, the juggernaut fundraising and campaign management oranization
  • Linked the national grassroots movement for Howard Dean
  • Established the "Grassroots Message Matrix"; teaching grassroots groups how to pitch and talk to media as well as to message across different interest groups
  • First to utilize Yahoo! Groups to communicate and connect with like minded people across the state and nation
  • First to utilize Meetups to organize and rally in real life
  • First to utilize Viral Videos to communicate across Yahoo! Groups and email campaigns
  • Simply stated, Georgia For Dean was not just he catalyst for Candidate Dean, but Dean himself used the blueprint created by this team for the "50 State Solution" he later employed as DNC Chair to help propel Barrack Obama into the White House in 2008. The methods have also be adopted by The Tea Party.
