A handsome, five-year-old German shepherd named "Ruger," was recently surrendered to the Fulton Animal Services facility in Atlanta, Ga., by his family who could no longer afford to take care of him.
Ruger is unaware of the circumstances which led up to his life being turned upside down - all that he knows is that today he is alone and depressed.
According to the facility, Ruger seems to know that his family is not coming back for him, and he has given up.
The gorgeous German shepherd does not want to eat and he has even turned his back to those who come to visit.
The following notes were shared from the facility:
He is very people friendly and dog friendly. I spent quite a bit of time with him last night in his kennel. He was bewildered but he seems like a low-key boy.
When I visited him tonight, I can see that depression has kicked in. According to the kennel staff, he's not eating and he is laying with his back against the kennel gate.
When I went in the kennel to see him, he didn't get up.
Ruger is listed as "rescue only," because he has an ear-infection and he is heart worm positive.
In order for Ruger to have hope for a future, he needs a rescue agency to be aware of his situation, and to be willing to step up to offer him a foster home, and veterinary care.
