Midtown Assistance Center Receives $1,000 Grant from 11Alive
The Networks of 11Alive, through the Gannett Foundation, recently presented a community service grant to the Midtown Assistance Center in recognition and support of the organization’s work with the working poor. The funds will support the Homeless Prevention Project that assists low-income working families who are in temporary financial crisis.
Dorothy Chandler, Executive Director of the Midtown Assistance Center, and Bernadette Kennedy, Board President accepted the grant on behalf of the Midtown Assistance Center.
"This grant will help people in need before they reach the point of homelessness," said Dorothy Chandler.

The Midtown Assistance Center, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency financial assistance to the working poor of Midtown Atlanta to forestall homelessness and poverty during periods of personal crisis. Located at 30 Porter Place, just off Peachtree Street in facilities provided by Atlanta First United Methodist Church, MAC is a collaborative effort of eleven Peachtree corridor congregations. In addition, MAC receives private and public funding.
