12/12/12 in Midtown ... what's in a date?

From weddings to doomsday predictions, 12/12/12 is a special date that comes but once every 100 years, but then again, don’t all dates come just once a century?

Still, aside from being easy to memorize, there are those who believe today’s date is auspicious. Numerologist Dr. Vivek Chopra wrote in a Jagran Post article that 12/12/12 is a special date in numerology.

"If we add 12/12/12 or 12/12/2012, the number we get is 5 and 9 which is the number of planet Mars and Moon. If we add 2+1, we get number 3, which denotes planet Jupiter. This way all 5, 9 and 3 numbers relate to friendly and cool planet," Chopra said in the article.

Well, we do know that 12/12/12 is the last time there will be repeating dates for almost 100 years (January 1, 2101).

We also know that tonight, some of the most influential musicians of our time will take the stage at Madison Square Garden to perform in a sold-out show that will benefit the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

Performing in the 12-12-12 Concert For Sandy Relief will be acts ranging from native New Jersey rockers Bruce Springsteen and Bon Jovi to pop stars Alicia Keys and legendary artists such as The Rolling Stones.

But back to 12/12/12 as today marks the beginning of Park 75 Lounge’s "The 12 Days of Cocktails" at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. Each day from Dec. 12 – Dec. 23, bartender Peter Hill of Park 75 Lounge, located in the hotel at 75 14th Street, will introduce a new festively flavored cocktail that's sure to give a taste of that holiday ‘spirit.’ 

From 'The North Pole' to 'A Miracle on 14th Street,' each cocktail has been crafted to highlight the best of the season's flavors and will be specially priced at $12. 

Day 1: On the First Day of Cocktails Park 75 will offer ‘A Partridge in a Pear Tea!’  The drink features Cruzan Rum, baked pear juice, lemon juice and Housemade Wormwood Bitters, garnished with a baked pear slice. 

Day 2: Park 75 will lure you in with ‘Santa’s Sauce.’  The combination of Bulleit bourbon, Chai tea, cardamom syrup and cinnamon will have you ready to face more shopping.  

Day 3: You’ll be transported to ‘The North Pole’ -- via Moscow when you sip on this variation of a Moscow Mule, complete with Tito’s vodka, peppermint syrup and Housemade Ginger Beer. 

Day 4: Does mall traffic have you feeling a little grumpy? Sit back and enjoy ‘The Grinch.’ Scotch, port and Aperol are sure to renew that holiday spirit. 

Day 5: Of course, Park 75 will offer up ‘Five Golden Rings!’ First, a brown sugar cube is muddled with sage leaves, then Cruzan rum, AppleJack apple brandy and lime juice are added to the mix.  Finally, the beverage is shaken, strained and served!

Day 6:The ‘Peppermint Patty’ is the cocktail of choice. Housemade Chicory Liqueur, espresso and peppermint syrup, along with Bulleit bourbon make up this adults-only treat. 

Day 7: Enter into the ‘Winter Wonderland.’  Equal parts Chartreuse, Luxardo liqueur, Fernet Branca and lime juice are combined with just a touch of Mezcal for a slightly smoky yet tart libation.

Day 8: Need a little extra cheer to get through yet another rendition of ‘Oh Christmas Tree?’ The herbaceous flavors of Benedictine, Absinthe, Hum liqueur, Housemade Fall Spice Syrup and cracked orange peel will revive you for another round of carols! 

Day 9: Don’t go all the way to 34th Street! Stop by Park 75 Lounge at 75 14th Street for the  ‘Miracle on 14th Street.’ This cocktail combines Grand Marnier with Cynar, Hum liqueur, Dry Vermouth and Housemade Cucumber Honeycomb Bitters for a wonderfully festive caramel and orange spice flavored drink. 

Day 10: You’ll find your new party favorite. Park 75’s ‘Christmas Rum Punch’ features Pampero rum, Applejack apple brandy, Housemade Orange Liqueur and Cinnamon Bitters with a touch of brown sugar.   

Day 11: Let ‘Rudolph’ light the way. Tito’s vodka, Housemade Orange Liqueur, beet syrup and a rose water tincture ‘guide’ this cocktail.

Finally, on the 12th day of Cocktails, Park 75 will wish you ‘Feliz Navidad!’ Get festive with tequila, Mexican chocolate and Fernet Branca. A splash of cream, brown sugar cube and simple syrup make this drink the perfect grand finale to the 12 Days of Cocktails.
