2013 Project Overcoat Kicks Off Saturday

Area residents encouraged to bring new or gently used coats to any Kroger location throughout metro Atlanta.

Kroger’s Atlanta Division is teaming up with WAGA FOX 5, FedEx, United Way, Kiss 104.1FM, and the Atlanta Mission for the 2013 Project Overcoat campaign.

From Jan. 5 – 19, Kroger customers and associates are encouraged to bring new or gently used coats to any Kroger location throughout metro Atlanta.

“Temperatures are dropping quickly, and our coldest months are still ahead,” Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division, said in a news release. “We hope that with the help of our customers and associates, we can give coats and blankets to those in need and keep Atlanta warm this winter.”

To participate in this year’s campaign, Kroger shoppers can place their donations in the Project Overcoat bins located at the front of each metro Atlanta Kroger store. All donations raised through the 2013 Project Overcoat campaign will be distributed to the United Way and Atlanta Mission.

In Midtown, Kroger stores can be found at 1700 Monroe Drive in Ansley Mall and at 725 Ponce de Leon Avenue. To find the Kroger store nearest you, visit www.kroger.com.

For more than 22 years, Project Overcoat has worked to provide thousands of men, women and children with jackets and blankets. Later this month, volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute the coats. If interested in volunteering, see here.
