'A Free Concert Unlike Any Other': Sneak Preview of Homeless Finding Their Voices at The Shrine

Homeless men lift themselves by lifting their voices.

What 11Alive describes as, "A free concert unlike any oter," is set for this Sunday at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Downtown Atlanta.

The Shrine's music director, Donal Noonan, has been working with homeless men for months now, forming the choir and tuning it up.

This will be the second concert for the "Atlanta Homeward Choir," which 11Alive reports follows rigorous practice. The hope, and apparently the reality, is that the discipline it takes the men to create the music is translating into their own lives.

"We're giving these people something to do because one, maybe they don't have something to do and it's something to do that builds themselves up," Noonan told the station. "They're building themselves up they just don't realize they're doing that.

"It's become a vessel for people to say i'm worthy of something."
