April's Midtown Tour of Homes to focus on 'eclectic simplicity, comfort and diversity'

The annual Tour fundraiser began in 1971, and will coincide with the Dogwood Festival on April 20 and 21.

The Midtown Neighbors’ Association (MNA) will be hosting the 2013 Midtown Tour of Homes on Saturday April 20 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday April 21 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Some of the homes on the Tour include 951 Piedmont Avenue, 972 Myrtle Street, and 807 Argonne Avenue. See more homes here and $20 Tour tickets can be purchased here.

This year’s Tour once again coincides with the Dogwood Festival, combining two of Atlanta’s oldest traditions.

This year’s Tour attendees will enjoy and view firsthand Midtown’s best city living, phenomenal art, and historical architecture. In addition, the Tour kicks off Midtown Atlanta’s Shop & Dine week, which offers participants the opportunity to dine and shop at a value (Shop & Dine begins with the Tour on April 20 and runs through Saturday April 27).

This year the Tour is subtitled, “Lifestyle in the Town within the City,” focusing on the eclectic simplicity, comfort and diversity found within the range of community that defines Midtown.

As always, proceeds from the Tour and Shop & Dine Week are entirely reinvested in the neighborhood, contributing to programs designed to enhance safety, cleanliness, educational opportunities, walkability and community.

The Tour fundraiser began in 1971, and was last staged in April 2011 when the MNA and Midtown Alliance combined to launch the "Celebrate! Midtown" festival in April that year. The 2012 Midtown Tour of Homes, originally slated for September, ultimately was postponed due in part to a series of organizational factors as MNA Board President Terry Bond said late last year, “we have to make sure we have a quality event, and we have to make sure we do it right.’’

Midtown’s community is built upon fellowship, service and quality of life, and as an eclectic community, Midtown offers a diverse landscape of culture and arts, dining, business, and recreational activities at a premier level for Atlanta and its surrounding neighborhoods to enjoy.
