Celebrate the Chinese New Year in and around Midtown

Celebrate the Year of the Snake at these local events.

The start of the Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, and 2013 is Year of the Snake in Chinese culture. The Chinese New Year celebration is the largest and most important in Chinese culture, usually running for 15 days. The Chinese New Year is thought to be a way to begin anew with a clean slate.

Here are some ways in Atlanta to celebrate the Chinese New Year with traditions like the Lion Dance, where dancers don an intricate lion's costume that signifies the beast's ushering in of the positive while removing the negative.
