Christmas Parade to Shift to Midtown

Parade is moving because of Atlanta Streetcar work.

Christmas is still months away but the South's largest holiday parade will be held in Midtown this year.

That's because the Atlanta Streetcar project, which will create a trolley line between Centennial Olympic Park in Downtown and the Old Fourth Ward is under construction.

So, for the first time, the Children's Christmas Parade will be held in Midtown, according to a Curbed Atlanta report.

As part of the rerouting of the parade, now in its 33rd year, several overhead utilities will be buried underground at the 5th, 8th and 16th street crossings.
