At the annual meeting, there will be information tables from various MNA programs where you can get an update on the many projects currently being sponsored by the MNA.

Also at the meeting, the MNA will be electing eight Board members to serve a 2-year term. The Board of Directors has influence over everything Midtown from development to liquor licenses to quality of life issues. You may renew your membership at the annual meeting if you have not renewed online to become eligible to vote in the Board elections.

The deadline for bio submission and inclusion on the ballot is Friday, January 18 at 5 p.m. No more submissions can be accepted for the 2013-2015 term for the Board of Directors after that date and time.

From the MNA:

Being a board member requires a strong commitment of time and talents. All Board members must serve as a committee chair or co-chair. You can anticipate spending 6 to 8 hours each week on MNA business. This time is compiled from meetings, email correspondence, community outreach and committee work. Our by-laws require that you attend a minimum of 9 of the 12 MNA board meetings during the fiscal year, which runs from January 1 until December 31, in order to retain your position on the Board. Officers can expect to dedicate additional hours (10 to 15 per week) above those of other Board members.

While we encourage everyone to become involved, our Board members are individuals with a special dedication to the neighborhood. Individuals that have previously served on MNA committees make especially attractive candidates. Help us make Midtown a better neighborhood for everyone.

A brief Board of Directors meeting will immediately follow elections. The 2013 Executive Committee will be elected by the new Board during this short meeting. Anyone planning to run for the Board of Directors should make plans to stay a little longer so you will be available for the meeting.
