GPB's Ryan honored for forging new paths for women

Teya Ryan, president and executive director of Midtown’s , was among a dozen women honored last week at the Womenetics 2012 POW! Awards held at the Georgia Aquarium.

Womenetics, an online media company for and about women, honored the group of female leaders from the Atlanta area “who forge new paths and create leadership models for the women who follow.”

Ryan, a Virginia-Highland resident, is a 30-year broadcast media veteran whose innovative ideas and passion for storytelling have earned her leadership roles at PBS, CNN and TBS. As executive vice president and general manager of CNN/US, she was in charge of all network programming, daily editorial, breaking news, on-air graphics and new program development.

“Being honored by Womenetics gave me the opportunity to remind myself about the vital role that women can and need to play in business,’’ Ryan wrote in an email. “Listening to, and being a part of, a panel of smart, talented female business leaders was invigorating and will help me be a better manager, and hopefully a change agent at GPB for all the people in Georgia.”
