Inaugural Georgia Gives Day is Thursday

The Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) will hold its inaugural statewide day of giving – Georgia Gives Day – on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012.

The purpose of Georgia Gives Day is to bring the state together as one community and to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Georgia nonprofits within a 24-hour, flash mob of giving. One hundred percent of proceeds will go directly to participating nonprofits.

It only takes one action – visit www.GAgivesday.org and click if you care to give back to participating nonprofits in your local communities and throughout the state.

More than 1,200 participating nonprofits across the state of Georgia, including many, many based in Midtown and on the westside of town, are participating in this inaugural day of giving. Additionally, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, Gov. Nathan Deal and Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle have vowed their support to Georgia Gives Day and encourage Georgians to give back to the nonprofits that have made a difference in their lives and community.

The mission of Georgia Gives Day is to inspire individuals to donate to participating nonprofits with the goal of raising as much money as possible within a 24-hour period.

GAgivesday.org makes donating easy by organizing hundreds of nonprofits across the state onto one website, providing  the information people need to select a cause or charity of their choice, and enabling online donations by credit card or e-check.
