Midtown Prayer Service for Newtown set for Friday

Peachtree Christian Church invites all to come remember the families, teachers and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary, while also praying for the "safety and peace of mind of our Atlanta schools, first responders, and Midtown community."

Peachtree Christian Church in north Midtown will be holding a special Service of Prayer and Remembrance for Newtown, Connecticut on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012.

The church sanctuary will be open at 11:30 a.m. for silent prayer, with a brief service of hope and remembrance from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.

Church members invite all to come join as they remember the families, teachers and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary, while also praying for the “safety and peace of mind of our Atlanta schools, first responders, and Midtown community.”

Newtown Patch in Connecticut has been providing continuing coverage of the Dec. 14, 2012 mass killing that claimed the lives of 28 people, including 20 children. The United Way of Western Connecticut, in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank, has created the Sandy Hook School Support Fund to help provide support services to the families and community that are affected.
