Midtown main break doesn't affect residents' water

Wednesday afternoon water main break results in no street closures as crews work through the night to repair it.

A water main break at the intersection of 10th and Juniper streets late Wednesday afternoon left City of Atlanta crews scrambling well into Thursday morning in an effort to fix it.

A contractor hit a 12-inch main that resulted in water spewing high into the air during rush hour traffic. Crews had to shut off valves at 8th and 12th streets and the streets remained open to traffic while the work was completed.

It was determined later that only two fire hydrants and no residents' water had been affected by the break. The Department of Watershed Management said the work was completed around 2 a.m. Thursday.
